IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James
Morrow
July 29, 1939 – July 26, 2024
With hearts full of both peace and sorrow, we celebrate the vibrant life of James Stewart Morrow, known fondly as Jim, who passed away on July 26, just three days shy of his 85th birthday. Jim leaves behind a rich tapestry of cherished memories and a legacy of remarkable stories.
Born on July 29, 1939, in Seattle to James (Jim) and Margaret (Peg) Morrow, Jim was a proud son of the Pacific Northwest. He grew up in Magnolia, attending Queen Anne High School and the University of Washington. His professional journey took him from Los Angeles to Detroit and Indiana, where he built a successful career at US Steel. However, it was in the 1970s, when he joined Digital Equipment Corporation as one of the pioneering tech sales leaders, that his true calling emerged. Jim's remarkable leadership and legendary team parties inspired countless colleagues.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Mary Buckley Morrow; his loving children, Susie Morrow Aarts and James Allan Morrow and his four grandsons; Tommy Aarts (Christina Twidale), Steve Aarts (Father - Jan), LJ Morrow, and Alex Morrow (Mother - Suchada) who brought him immense joy. His family is continuing to grow with the recent blessings of his great-granddaughter Victoria Aarts and great-grandson James. He also leaves behind his treasured older brother, Larry Morrow, and his family, along with many wonderful in-laws in the Buckley clan.
Jim's heart was forever tied to Juniper Beach, where multigenerational laughter and adventures created the happiest memories. His passions—sports, history, reading, jigsaw puzzles, swimming in the ocean, dancing to Blood, Sweat & Tears and the Doobie Brothers, and enjoying sunny days at the beach—reflected his insatiable curiosity and zest for life. Whether at Sahalee or Saddlebrooke in Tucson, Arizona, Jim's love for golf was matched only by his joy in teaching it. He was thrilled to watch his wife Mary achieve a hole-in-one twice after he taught her to play! A lifelong Husky fan, Jim found so much happiness cheering for the University of Washington with his family over the decades and proudly wore purple whenever possible.
As we bid farewell to Jim, we find comfort in knowing he is at peace in the place he loved most. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, Jim. You will be missed, but your vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know you.
