IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James M
Dalman
March 20, 1933 – August 30, 2020
James McArthur Dalman was born at Anoka Minnesota in March 1933. His parents were George and Adelaide (Hunt) Youngquist. Jim was the youngest of five living children.
When Jim's mother married Henry Dalman in 1947 a new chapter began. In family notes it is written "Henry Dalman was a wonderful father to Jim so much that Jim took Henry's name."
In the days of the war in Korea Jim enlisted in the reserve of the Marine Corps, and was mobilized for training and sent to Japan. He told of wanting something constructive to do, so he learned to do leather crafting, an artistry he practiced through his lifetime. And, he kept his Marine "spirit."
For a while he owned and operated a floor cleaning business.
In 1968 Jim and Sandra Ellen Hostetler were married. This marriage brought two sons, Mark and David, into a new family. In the 40 years together they also travelled, including trips to Africa and the Far East. Theirs was also a journey of love of pets which brought them to involvement with CASA and NOAH in this community. They moved to their home on Camano Island in the year 2000. Sandra's death in 2008 was a great and influential loss for him.
Jim's spiritual story was described by a relative "Jim Dalman has an amazing voice and used it for the Glory of God in the local church that he and his wife Sandy attended in St Louis Park MN for many years." How interestingly he told us in recent weeks, "I'm ready to go home. I know where I'm going, and I trust Him to bring me there."
His encouraging outreach is worth remembering: "How ya doin?" and "It's so good to hear from you." said to his last days here.
On August 31, Jim went home. Blessed be his memory. Thanks to God for Jim.
