Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to be with the Lord on Jan. 25th, 2015. Her family and wonderful caregivers had been by her side .
Irene was born August 27, 1917 in Omholt, Montana. She was the 3rd child of Margaret
And Peter Quande. They moved to Skagit County that year and resided in Milltown, WA.
Irene graduated from Mount Vernon High School and attended 2 years at what is now
Skagit Valley Community College.
She married the love of her life, Wellington Kendell Amundson on June 11, 1935 at Fir Conway
Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Stanwood, where they had two children, David and Linda.
The family had a very happy and loving life.
Irene was the manager at Jerry MacAffee Insurance and then First Federal Insurance in
Stanwood for many years. She was very active in Our Saviours Lutheran Church, where in later years she became known as the "cookie lady", calling members of the congregation to make
Sure there were cookies for coffee hour every Sunday. In the 1950's she was very involved
With Camp Fire, Twin City Wives and 2 bridge groups which continued up until about five
Years ago. More recently she spent many hours volunteering for Housing Hopes Lervick
Family Village as a Stanwood Ambassador and head of the pantry . In 2014 she was awarded
the first "Distinguished Volunteer Award" by Housing Hope.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Wellington , her mother and father, and her
four siblings: Helen Barth, Stanley Quande, Grace Kinney and Peggy Creighton.
She will be especially missed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren for her
Nourishing and positive spirit. Always encouraging each of them while being a roll model
For all. Her glass was always half full, even during tough times.
She leaves her son, David S. Amundson ( Diane) of Lake Stevens and daughter, Linda
K. Lervick (Roger) of Lake Goodwin. Her grandchildren are Tammy O'Donnell (Jeff), Steven
Lervick (Wendy), Michael Lervick (Oksana), Douglas Amundson (Amy), Jenni Cochran (Brent),
Scott Amundson (Kristen), Ryan Amundson (Christine), and Lisa Brenckle (Mike). Her great-
Grandchildren are Brian and Kyle O'Donnell, Cheryl, Amanda and Kendell Lervick, Karl and Paul
Lervick, Amy Hofman (Gordon), Ethan Amundson, Olive and Kenley Cochran, Grady and
Veronica Amundson, Abigail Amundson, Nicolas and Katherine Miller. A special thanks go
To her 3 wonderful care givers, Trish McDonald, Betty Yeager and Mary Melton. They are
Forever part of our family!! Also special thanks to Pastor Mark Bankson, and long time friends,
Jean Bartlett and Elly Coulter. Irene's nieces and nephews were so wonderful to devote so much of their time calling and visiting. They were all so supportive to her and the family during these

A celebration of Irene's life will be held at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Stanwood at 11:00
A M, on Tuesday, February 3rd 2015. A Private Family Interment will be held At Our Saviours
Lutheran Cemetery, Stanwood
