Obituary

Gloria Jean Anderson passed away on July 28, 2022. She was born on September 24, 1928 in a little house to Tillie and Jack Morgan in Cle Elum ,WA. Growing up for Gloria in this small picturesque coal-mining town with her younger sister, Marlene, was filled with hours gleefully sliding down the sand rocks, swimming in the river, Lake Cle Elum & the community pool. Laughter was plenty at the family camping trips and she fondly remembered the peaceful sunsets. When Gloria was 14, the family moved to Ballard, WA and she started school at Ballard High School, she also started working part-time to buy the expensive cashmere sweaters that she loved! While in high school, she met and fell in love with Carl William "Bill" Anderson and they married June 22, 1946, right after Gloria's graduation. First daughter, Sherry (Fruhling) came along, two years later, Jon Anderson, and then 14 years later, Karyl (Quevillon). Besides Ballard, they lived in Lynnwood, then Mukilteo. In the 1950's, Gloria worked in the bowling industry organizing woman's bowling leagues and then in 1967 she and Bill decided to pursue "his dream" of owning a grocery store. So they bought a small grocery store in Stanwood, WA in the area of Cedarhome and they named it 'Anderson's Market'. They both loved people, the Stanwood community and ended up making Stanwood/Camano Island their permanent home. After they sold the store, Gloria went to work for many years at O'Conner's Apparel (she still loved clothes!) and enjoyed coordinating stylish fashion shows at local events and for the Camaloch ladies golf luncheons. She pursued her love of painting watercolors and joined area art groups where she made many art-lover friends. Gloria and Bill bought a 2nd home in Indio, CA and spent retirement winters by the sunny pool at Rancho Casa Blanca, where Gloria was happiest. They proceeded to make even more friends down there as well! They celebrated 70+ years of marriage and enjoyed having seven grandchildren, Reed Fruhling, Courtney Sattler, Jami Sollid, Tyge Anderson, Sara Miller, Morgan Mulhall and Emily Mulhall. Plus 12 great-grandchildren! Sadly, she was preceded in death by Bill, daughter Sherry, son Jon, sister Marlene and many other very loved family members. There was a huge loud fun party full of laughter and hugs waiting for her up in heaven! A Celebration Of Life will be held on Gloria's birthday, September
