Obituary

Glenn Ervin Forslund was welcomed into heaven late in the evening on the 4th of July. Bold, strong, faithful, humble, generous, kind, helpful Glenn lived his life magnificently, blessing those who knew him with love and laughter and honoring his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is greatly missed, but we know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. So he is free from suffering and rejoicing in glory.

Glenn was born in Seattle, on September 21, 1957, to Ervin and Beth (Gilbert) Forslund; younger brother to Gary and Chris, older brother to Carol, Candis, and Gregg. Glenn was known for being rambunctious, mischievous, and always on the go. Many adventures were had in tree forts, with homemade zip lines or by bundling up in thick coats to "jump in the sticker bushes". Although living in Seattle, many weekends and summer days were spent in Warm Beach where family members came to get together for fun. Playing on the beach and venturing out on the tide flats with cousins were favorite pastimes. It was during this time period that the Forslund family tradition of Breakfast on the Beach started. A fire would be built and bricks placed to secure a griddle delivering delicious treats. As time passed the family expanded and the griddle grew larger.

As a kid, Glenn was quite athletic and loved playing baseball, swimming, track and field, and skiing. He graduated from Rainier Beach High School in 1975. After that the Forslund family made a permanent move to Warm Beach. Glenn, a hard working carpenter, started his own construction company. During this time, he built and remodeled homes and decks, including a house for his maternal grandmother and one for sister Chris. In his later 20s he joined his father at the Westin Building in Seattle and worked for Clise Properties Inc. as part of their construction team. He will be remembered by his co-workers for his fine workmanship, his innovative problem solving, and his good-natured joking. Glenn worked there as a carpenter for over 35 years.

Glenn bought his first house in Marysville, WA and remodeled the 100+ year old home himself. There, he raised his 4 children Melissa (1981), James (1986), David(1988), and Victoria(1991). Later he moved back to Warm Beach into the home he built for his grandmother. In 2006, Glenn married Carol Springer and became father to 4 more children, Emily(1990), Abigail(1994), Nathaniel(1996), and Elizabeth(1998). Glenn cherished being a father and treasured his children and grandchildren. His love for them spilled out in hugs, cheers, thoughtful gifts and cards, and adventures of all sorts: SeaDooing, exploring Seattle landmarks, Slurpee runs to 7-Eleven, Christmas tree pursuits, treks through the Olympic Game Farm, searching for thrift store "riches."

Glenn was an outdoorsman and enjoyed exploring the wild parts of God's creation with family and friends while hunting, camping, fishing, horseback riding, and bird watching. Glenn had a soft spot for pets, great and small. He was an avid reader of historical novels and Western tales. Glenn worshiped at several different churches in the area, including Warm Beach Church, North County Chapel, Woodside New Life Assembly of God, New View Assembly, and the Garage Church. Glenn served as a Royal Rangers Leader, helped with Sunday School, and played bass for worship teams. He was generous; always willing to help others. Whether putting up a barn or keeping an elderly neighbor's lawn mowed, he used his gifts to honor the Lord by serving others. Now he's in heaven, worshiping the Lord and probably watching one of those heavenly movies he talked about like "The Creation Story" or "The Parting of the Red Sea".

Glenn is survived by his wife Carol and 8 children and their families, including 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by his 5 siblings and their families, including lots of dear nieces and nephews. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Ervin and Beth Forslund, his brother in law Steve Counsellor, and his father in law Eldon Andres.

Glenn was laid to rest on Thursday, July 13, 2023, in Anderson Cemetery Stanwood WA. A celebration of life will be held at 3PM on September 10, 2023 at Newview church in Stanwood WA. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Answers in Genesis.
