IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerard Paul
Grohl
March 16, 1954 – December 22, 2021
Gerard Paul Grohl
March 16,1954 – December 22, 2021
Gerard Paul Grohl, 67, died peacefully in his sleep on December 22, 2021 at his Camano Island home. He was born March 16, 1954 to John Grohl and Lorraine Grohl in Queens, New York. In 1974, Gerard moved to Washington where he built his life for the next 50 years.
Gerard helped raise two sons in Kirkland and Redmond before moving to North Bend and then Camano Island. Wherever he lived, he went out of his way to make a positive impact on his neighbors and community. Gerard's passion for his community led him to numerous volunteer roles, including the Special Olympics, Redmond Police Department, and Island County Sherriff's Office.
While Gerard was very proud of his volunteer work, nothing made him happier than his family. Nearly every day he would make sure to call his grandchildren and let them know how much he loved them.
Gerard was warm and welcoming; he could strike up a conversation with a perfect stranger and make a new friend. He had a way of remembering special things about you for years to come.
He had a work ethic like no other, dedicating more than 40 years to a Seattle business he loved. He and his business partners were eventually able to purchase the company. Gerard thrived in his new role before selling the business and retiring.
Gerard is survived by his partner of 16 years, Sarah Stiteler. He is also survived by his former wife, Patricia and their children David (Julia) and Daniel (Ali). He was a proud Papa to his five grandchildren, Kimi, Keilani, Coral, Ethan, and George. Gerard is also survived by his loving siblings, John, Lorraine, and Peter (Heather).
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lorraine, sister-in-law Barbara, and niece Rebekah.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for the summer of 2022. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Camano Law Enforcement Support Foundation, and Camano Island Fire & Rescue.
