Gerald Holmes Berg Sr.
May 24, 1935 – February 19, 2017

Gerald (Jerry) H. Berg passed away peacefully surrounded by all of his family at his home in Marysville, WA, February 19, 2017. Born May 24, 1935 in Seattle, WA, Jerry was the third of 5 children to parents Axel and Olga Berg.

Jerry attended Roosevelt High School, studied two years at Pacific Lutheran University in Business Mgt. and two years at South Community College in Construction.

He was a city boy from Seattle who fell in love with a beautiful small town girl from Winlock, Washington. Jerry and Margie married March 8, 1958; a lifetime by each other's side, they would have shared their 59th wedding anniversary this month.

His passion for construction was passed down by his father, Axel, and shared with his brother Bernie and nephew, Bret. Jerry's hard work with Gwinn Construction, led him to co owning Berg and Berg Construction his brother Bernie, formed Berg Construction, and retiring after working as Superintendent with Sherman Construction. He was so proud of all of his many accomplishments which help shape the landscape of our beautiful Pacific Northwest over his 40 year career. This includes countless Apartments, homes, restaurants and Parks. Jerry was also a proud American, serving eight years in the United States Navy.

Proud of his Norwegian heritage, loved family road trips to California, Reno, Las Vegas, Oregon, and trips to Hawaii. Jerry loved early morning fishing, boating, deer watching, love of cars, family holidays and spending time on his farm, sitting on the porch enjoying his family by his side. His love of his grandchildren four wheeling, holiday sleepovers, Easter egg hunts, bad mitten matches, hide and seek in the woods, their team sport games and lots of hugs and kisses by all. Jerry loved his best friend and wife Margie.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Margaret (Margie), children Jody (Greg), Jerry Jr. (Mary), Heidi (Jeff), Lori, 13 grandkids, sisters Delores, Aileen, Alyce. He was preceded in death by his brother Bernie and parents Axel and Olga.

Jerry will be missed by his Bob's family, IHop family, Doctors, nurses , who he could always make smile , not to mention his family that was CRAZY about him, and he will be missed every day and FOREVER, and he will be in our hearts through all the wonderful memories as a loving husband, wonderful father and thoughtful and fun grandfather. You will be missed at our Friday night at Bobs, breakfast at IHop's, Monday lunch with your favorite hairdresser, a father/son weekend laughter, and the everyday routines with your loving partner in crime. Thanks for always pushing us to be our best. We will hold onto every word you have said, every lesson you have taught us and every sweet memory we have shared. Your spirit will live strong in each one of us, and well beyond your lifetime here on earth. We love you!!! See you again.

Memorial services will be held at Calvary Chapel Edmonds, Washington on Sunday, March 26th, 2017 at 1:30pm. Memorial donations may be made to Mitochondrial Research Guild, P.O. Box 761, Lynnwood, WA 98046 in lieu of flowers. He loved his grandson Jack.
