George W. Rauch

George Rauch was born November 3, 1917 in his grandmother's home in Warm Beach, Washington to the late Alvin and Lottie Rauch. On February 21st, at the age of 96 he passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
George graduated from Arlington High School in 1937. He worked at the Providence Hospital in Everett before proudly serving in the Army Air Force.
He met the love of his life, Karin Peterson, at a dance in Lake Stevens and they were married July 31st, 1941 in Anchorage, Alaska. After the war he returned home and ran a dairy farm. Throughout the years they had several farms in the Marysville-Arlington area. He worked for Safeway for several years and finished his working career in the Marysville School District.
At the time of his retirement they had already moved to Camano Island. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and traveling in their many recreational vehicles.
Perhaps his most passionate pastime, other than a deep love for his wife and family, was his enjoyment of golf, which he did 3 times a week well into his 90's. Because he loved golf, he enjoyed watching the professionals on television when he wasn't rooting for the Mariners.
He lost his wife of 72 years, Karin, just last month. He will be deeply missed by his son John(Mary), his daughter Gail, three grandchildren, Karin(Phil), Daniel(Jenny), Mark(Kim); nine great grandchildren, two great, great granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. His little dog Lillie will miss him dearly. Over the last few years he has been comforted by her. He was a great lover of Boston Bull Terriers.
