Gary D. Jensen 1/16/36 – 9/19/10
Gary went to be with his God Sept 19, 2010 after open heart surgery. Surrounded by his family, he never regained consciousness, but quietly slipped away.
Gary was born in Mt Vernon to Chris and Beatrice Jensen and lived in Stanwood, attending school in Stanwood until his marriage to Shirley Townsend in 1954. They had four children and divorced in 1968.
He married Carol Claborn that same year and she had four children and together they had the ninth. He was a truck driver all his adult life and retired from Twin City Foods in 1996 after 24 years there. He then went to work for Thomco Construction and retired from there in 2001. To help keep him retired, Carol let him purchase a Kenworth to pull their fifth-wheel south every winter. He extended the frame and built ramps so he could load the car and put his quad underneath before he hooked it up to the RV. You may have seen them heading south every fall and returning every spring.
Gary delighted in all the attention the set-up got when they pulled into a rest area. The truck drivers had to come look it over and ask him all kinds of questions.
Gary was proceeded in death by his younger brother Marvin, his father Chris and mother Beatrice and a granddaughter Danelle. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Carol Jensen, son, Gary Steven Jensen (Kristine), daughters Bobbi Walker (Ken), Kathy Bakamus (Nick), Terry Jensen (Bob Gran), Kelly Lindsay ( Kevin), son Scott Jensen (MaRie), daughers Joy Jensen, Tami Anderson (Robert) son Christopher Jensen (DeeDee)
Grandchildren; Angela Gran, Doug Gran (Holly) Mark Jensen, Chantel LaComb (Ryan), Lori Jensen, Shayne Walker, Cherae Almanza (Joel), Virgina Millar, John Millar, Nicky Bakamus, Ashley Cheever, Coy Chittenden, Nycole Jensen, Kyla Jensen, Richard Ramos, Cory Stone, Amy Jo Lindsay, Kevin Lindsay, Katie Cheever, Emily Cheever, Travis Stone, Jake Bakamus
Great grandchildren: Ceirra Schaffer, Makenzie Gran, Luke Gran, Haillie Oldhouse, Makenna LaComb, Paige Almanza, Blake Almanza, Mylee LaComb, Taylor Almanza, Kayla Gran.
His brother Larry Jensen and Sister, Sharon Losey (Larry), many nieces, and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 2, 2010, 11:00 am at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Stanwood.
