While snow was falling, just like on the day he was born, Garry Edwin Lund passed away on Sunday morning, 12/27/15, at home with his family after a 2 ½ -year brave and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on 3/3/60 in Mt. Vernon, WA, and lived in Stanwood the rest of his life. He attended Stanwood schools and excelled in sports, which began his love of coaching. Shortly after high school, He began working at a local cabinet shop and learned the craft of being a cabinet maker. He started his own business, Highland Country Cabinets in 1981, of which so many homes in the Stanwood-Camano area and as far away as Lake Chelan and Hawaii hold his beautiful handcrafted cabinetry. He was truly an artist in his trade. On 09/03/83, he married Joan, the love of his life, and was blessed with Jeremy and Johanna, and eventually welcomed the births of Brody and Madison. His family was his life and he loved his home, always excited about a new project to start on his land.

He was a member of American Legion, Post 92 in Stanwood, and was a Cub Scout as a young boy. He coached many sports - football, basketball, and baseball - for over 30 years, and was an avid baseball player himself. Hunting was a passion of his, and he also enjoyed clam digging and fishing.

He was a great story teller - always keeping us hanging onto every word. He was so entertaining. Garry had that great dimpled smile and twinkle in his eye that can never be forgotten. "There are some who bring a light so great to the world, that even after they have gone, the light remains".

Garry is survived by his loving and devoted wife Joan Lund, mother Anna Lee Lund, mother-in-law Muriel Heeckt, sons Jeremy Hendry and Brody Lund, daughters Johanna (Ivan) Aranda and Madison Lund, granddaughter Mackenzie; sister Pam (Murray) Cassidy, brother Barry (Chris) Lund; uncle Mike (Maxine) Hereford, aunt Joyce Hereford, uncle Raymond (Aileen) Lund; nieces Heidi (Dan) Donnelly, Amber Kllogjeri, Linnea (Albert) Brodeur, Natasha Davis; nephews Ryan (Kristin) Pirkle, Ryan Erps, Marcus Price, Dylan and Tyler Lund, Skyler Kenney; sisters-in-law Dianne (Craig) Binckley, Sandy (Ray) Erps, and Laura (Joe) Carson; 4 great nieces, 3 great nephews, and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Gordon E. Lund, Stepfather Raymond Husby and father-in-law Gerald Heeckt.

Services will be held at Stanwood Middle School on Saturday, January 9th at 11:00 a.m., led by Pastor Mark.
