IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances Louise
Loomis
March 14, 1922 – July 17, 2021
Frances Louise Brummett Loomis passed away on July 17, 2021, at the age of 99 due to conditions related to advanced age. She was born March 14, 1922, in the township of Morgan County, Illinois, known as Orleans. She was the oldest of six children born to Milford Collier Brummett and Bertha Lee Leeper Brummett. Her siblings were Wendell Leeper Brummett, Clarence Edward Brummett (Ruby), Margaret Lola Brummett, Nola Aileen Brummett Delhin (Richard) and John Rollin Brummett (Beverly). Frances and her future husband, John Howard Loomis, Jr. met in June 1941. They married on December 13, 1944. They enjoyed nearly 49 years of marriage, living primarily in Anchorage, Alaska, where they raised their three children. She enjoyed spending time gardening, canning and preserving, completing challenging crosswords, reading, sewing quilts for her grandchildren, and researching geneology. Frances did not want to be praised, as she felt that if she had done anything praiseworthy it was only what she was supposed to have done. She had been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since August 30, 1953. Over the years, she was an active church member, serving as a teacher and leader in several callings and was happiest when she was serving. She was a temple worker in the Seattle Temple for approximately seven years. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and all of her siblings, with the exception of Edward of Jacksonville, IL. Her brother Wendell died in infancy. She is survived by her three children, Gwen Loomis (Michael Nelson) of Portland, OR; Howard Loomis (Cindy) of Orem, UT; and Michael Loomis of Camano Island, WA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was dearly loved by all and will be missed. We look forward to the day when we are all reunited.
