IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eric
Peterson
September 13, 1963 – February 9, 2025
Eric Webster Peterson, 61, of Kirkland, Washington, passed away on February 9, 2025, after a stroke. He is now in heaven with his earthly father and his personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born on September 13, 1963, in Mount Vernon, Washington, Eric was the second of four brothers. His childhood was filled with fishing and hunting trips to Spectacle Lake for trout, Neah Bay, Ilwaco, and Camano Island for salmon, Skagit Bay for ducks, Winthrop for mule deer, and the Stillaguamish and Skykomish rivers for steelhead with his dad and brothers.
Eric excelled in sports at Stanwood High School, particularly in football, basketball, and the high jump. He attended summer camp at Camp Firwood in Bellingham, WA, where he was deeply impacted by the camp's focus on Jesus. He later returned as a camp counselor and served on their Board of Directors for many years. Eric enjoyed farm jobs such as picking strawberries, bulbs, and cucumbers, but he also worked at a salmon cannery in Petersburg, Alaska, and later fished for salmon in Bristol Bay.
He graduated from the University of Washington with a BS in Civil Engineering and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, where he made many lifelong friends. After college they continued to create memories together during their "Ozette" camping trips, summiting Mount Rainier, and attending UW football games. Eric loved getting to know people, understanding what made them "tick," and discussing life and politics, whether around a campfire, catching perch in Lake Washington, on hunting trips out of his elk tent, or in "lobby chat" with the guys after a basketball game.
During his long career in the construction industry, Eric worked for several firms, building everything from residential homes and apartments to high-rise buildings. His most recent position was with Alliance Residential Company where he was well-known and respected in the Puget Sound area. He was a member of Bellevue Presbyterian Church for many years, volunteering in many areas.
Eric had a deep fatherly love for his two children, Rose, 18, and Will, 17. He cherished many special memories with them, including traveling to Florida, Mexico, and a recent lacrosse team trip to San Diego. Wednesday night dinners with Rose and Will were a highlight of his week.
He is survived by his two children, Rose and Will; his three brothers, Greg, Matthew, and Mark; his mother, Jean; and many other family members, friends, and co-workers who will miss him dearly. A memorial service will be held on March 15, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Bellevue Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eric's memory can be sent to the Camp Firwood Scholarship Fund at www.thefirs.org to help transform youth lives in the name of Jesus.
