Our loving mother Edith Viola Schei, 92, of Stanwood, passed away peacefully Oct 15, 2014 at Warm Beach Senior Community, where she had lived for 8 years.
Edith was born June 9th , 1922 on her mother's birthday, at the family home in Victoria Heights, Stanwood. She was the only child born to Olaf & Hilma Swanson, descendants of Sweden. She was married to Ray Schei in 1942, they had 3 children. During mom's life she worked at Stanwood Elementary, as a playground supervisor; Scandia Bakery, rolling lefse; and Stanwood News.
Her family, helping others and her faith was most important in her life. She volunteered at the Stanwood Foodbank, & Josephine Sunset Home. She was a lifelong active member of Freeborn Lutheran Church & Ladies Aid. Her interests were cooking, growing a big garden, canning and quilting with the Ladies Aid.
Edith leaves behind her children & spouses, Allen (Vicky), Roger (Julie), Jeanne (Greg); 7 grandchildren, Tad, Jerrod, Stacey, Whitney, Maddy, Seth & Dan; 8 great grandchildren; Cousin Karen Nelson; and special friend, Susie Glad. She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband and grandson, Ben Hills.
Proud of her Scandinavian heritage, we will never forget what a wonderful cook she was, and how we looked forward to the yearly lutefisk & Swedish meatballs, blackberry pie dinners!
Memorial Service will be held on Oct 25, 10AM at Warm Beach Senior Community, Beachwood Fellowship Hall. We thank all the staff at WBSC for all the love & care they gave to mom. Memorials can be made to Stanwood/Camano Foodbank.
