IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorrine Clarice
Strandrud
April 30, 1925 – May 5, 2025
Dorrine Clarice Strandrud (Olsen) was born April 30th, 1925 in Florence Washington to Minnie Delia and Christopher Gunerius Olsen. She passed away May 5th, 2025. Dorrine, known to many as Ditty, mom, auntie, grandma, and great grandma, always insisted that she would make it to her 100th birthday, and when Dorrine insisted on doing something, she accomplished it. She greatly enjoyed her 100th birthday celebrations, surrounded by family and dear friends. Dorrine graduated from East Stanwood High School in 1943 and she graduated with Honors from Washington State University in 1947 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bacteriology and Public Health. Dorrine then began her professional career as a Bacteriologist for the Department of Health in the Smith Tower in Seattle, Washington. In 1948, Dorrine was promoted to Senior Bacteriologist and accepted a position at the Walla Walla Health Department. While in Walla Walla, Dorrine was introduced to WWII Marine Corps Veteran William Mead Strandrud. Dorrine and William were married in 1949 and 11 years later, the two moved to Woodinville, Washington, where Dorrine was proudly appointed as Historian of the Sons of Norway in Bothell, Washington and she was appointed as Secretary for both the International Association for Cancer Victims and Friends (IACVF) and the Audubon Society. Dorrine and William made Woodinville their home where they raised their three children and joyfully took part in the upbringing of their many grandchildren. Dorrine deeply enjoyed teaching and sharing her passions with her children and grandchildren, which included photography, bird watching, traveling, and hiking the trails at Mount Rainier. All those who had the pleasure of knowing her were endlessly impressed by her impeccable memory, specifically for dates and times of memorable life events and her unwavering faith in God. Dorrine was preceded in death by her husband in 2007 and her son, John Phillip, when he was a baby. Dorrine is survived by her children: Barbara Ann Worthen, Jeanne Marie Nevistic (Drago Nevistic), and Paul Benjamin Strandrud. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Richard Hugh Doherty, Hugh Patrick Doherty, Andrea Marie Terpin (Nicholas Terpin), Daniel Thomas Nevistic (Yuki Nevistic) and Christina Marie Nevistic. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Donavan Jasper (Doherty), Meghan Doherty, Sara Marie Nevistic, Cody Minato Nevistic and Remington Stanley Terpin. There will be a graveside service at the Anderson Cemetery in Stanwood, Washington, May 23rd, 2025 at 11:00am. May all those who knew her take comfort in knowing Dorrine, Mom, Grandma is in heaven with loved ones who have been waiting for her. In the words of Dorrine, "Good Grief, and Goodnight."
