Obituary

Donald Morris, 83 years old of Camano Island, WA passed away peacefully March 25, 2012 at his home. He was born on June 4, 1928 in Arlington, WA the third of three children of Rudolph and Ona (Rogers) Morris. His parents and brother Deen preceded him in death.
He graduated from Arlington High School in 1946. He was an outstanding student, served as Student Body President and excelled as a football and track athlete. After high school he held a variety of jobs including work in construction, in the lumber industry and on the Hanford Nuclear Reservation.
In the fall of 1953 he enrolled at Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, WA, where he majored in Biology and played on the football team. In 1955 he married Gail Taylor. They had six children. In 1957 he started his career in education, teaching science and coaching football at Anacortes High School in Anacortes, WA. From Anacortes he went to the Clover Park School District in Lakewood, WA where he served as a high school Vice Principal and Principal and as an Administrator in the District Office. In Lakewood he was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church and involved in the Lakewood Rotary Club. Later in his career he served as Superintendent of the Onalaska School District and retired from the Sequim, WA School District in 1992.
He is survived by his sister, Fern LaVonne Quake of Everett, WA and his children: Peter Morris (Alana); Kris Morris (Marta); Stacie Schaler (Bill); Becky Huff (Steve); Marta Morris (Scott Brown) and Mark Morris. He has fourteen grandchildren ranging in age from from 4 to 24: Antje, Isaak, Taylor, Evan, Emerson, Emilie, Carlie, Dane, Drew, Mia, Patricia, Marisol, Luisa and Rudy. He also had great affection for his nieces and nephew: Candi Holland, Randy, Haidee, Sundee and Darcie Morris, and Lise Holmstad
A memorial service will be held Saturday April 14, 2012 at 2 pm at Camano Lutheran Church, 850 N. Heichel Rd., Camano Island, WA 98282
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Camano Lutheran Church or Josephine Sunset Home.
A Private family graveside service will be held at Camano Lutheran Cemetery.
