Delwin Glenn Furnas of Camano Island, Washington, born in Everett, Washington to Glenn and Edna Furnas, passed away at Providence Hospital, Everett, Washington on September 30 th , 2022 at the age of 89.
Del is survived by his loving wife, Joann, his three children, Lynn (Russ), Steve (Kendal), and Dave (Randy) and his grandchildren, Erin (Brianna), Austin (Fiancé, Analie), and Elyse. Del was predeceased by his parents and his granddaughter, Lisa, whom he affectionately named "Trudy".
Del graduated from Everett High, Washington and attended the University of Washington until entering the army where he served as an MP. He worked in business and sales and retired from Milgard Windows in Marysville, Washington.
Del married his high school sweetheart, Joann Urbick, on August 11, 1953, "the girl he saw with the heart necklace, standing on the stairs at school". They celebrated their 69 th anniversary this past August.
Del had an appreciation of music and played the saxophone in his youth. He and Joann were a great dancing couple with a fine sense of rhythm.
Del was fond of dogs and they were fond of him. He helped one of his grandchildren overcome her fear of dogs, with a black lab named Jackson.
The "Beach" as it was called, was the place of his heart from childhood to final years. Del loved living in the small beach community surrounded by family and friends. Del liked watching sports of all kinds, reading a good book and was especially interested in subjects on WWII. He also made the best clam linguine.
A service will be held on Monday, October 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Holyrood Cemetery, Shoreline, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
