Obituary

In the quiet of the early morning on Tuesday November 2, 2021. Loving mother, sister and friend to many Kathie (MacGregor) Johnson of Stanwood, WA peacefully passed away at Bella House -Adult Family Home in Marysville, WA at the age of 73 years young.

Kathie was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Doris Macgregor. She had many fond memories of being raised on their family farm in Stanwood, WA with her younger sister Laurilee (MacGregor). Spending numerous hours outdoors on horseback, playing in the creek enjoying time with friends at Cedar Home Church in Stanwood. Some of her most cherished memories as a young girl were working in the strawberry fields at area farms or spending time with cousins at Camano Island for family picnics.

Kathie attended boarding school at Auburn Adventist Academy where she met many lifelong friends. Her daughter Tiffanie (Birr) was born shortly after graduation in 1969 and a short time after she completed her family with the arrival of Angie (Espe) in 1972. Kathie and her husband Raymond spent most of their married life raising their daughters in Bothell, WA.

She was very involved with her church family at Edmonds Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Where she continued to grow everlasting friendships. After the passing of her father, she moved back to her childhood home on the farm in Stanwood to care for her mother and the land. Many had the opportunity to make memories at the farm around the bonfire or cozy in her home. Kathie made sure that everyone had full bellies and laughing with tears running down their face before they left.

When her 2 daughters were young Kathie cared for the children of friends in her home while their parents worked. When her own daughters were older, Kathie worked outside the home at ATL in the early 80's and had her own house cleaning business until she retired. She also spent a couple years working part time at an adult family home where her mother-in-law was living at the time. Her biggest pride, however, was being a mother to her 2 daughters, Grammie to her 7 grandchildren and many others that thought of her as mom/Grammie, along with many fur babies over the years.

Kathie leaves behind her daughter Tiffanie, son in-law Dan Birr and their two daughters Shyla and Elyce Birr. Her daughter Angie, son in-law Rick Espe and grandsons Geritt, Chase, Jensen, Porter and Nash Espe. Her dear sister Laurilee MacGregor and nephews Leif and Dane Andersen and their families. Cousins and her Auntie Eleanor Clayton that she had a special bond with.

Kathie will be laid to rest by Gilbertson Funeral Home in Stanwood at a private family burial.

There will be a Memorial / Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 4:00 P.M. at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church 86251 -196 th St SW Edmonds, WA 98026.
