Darrell Lee Akin, 59, passed away on October 20th, 2026, at Providence Hospital in Everett, Washington. He was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle whose presence brought laughter and lasting memories to those fortunate enough to know him.
Darrell is survived by his mother, Shirlee Akin; his siblings, William Akin and Kathleen Aguilar; his daughter, Amber Akin; his grandsons, Gideon and Elias; and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
Darrell had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing, and golfing. He also loved collecting, repairing and selling golf clubs. He had a unique way of doing things and a personality that was entirely his own.
Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a teenager, Darrell faced significant health challenges throughout his life. His diabetes eventually led to kidney failure and a kidney transplant. Despite these challenges, he continued to build meaningful relationships and create memories with the people he loved.
One of the things that made Darrell special was his ability to form lasting friendships. Once he considered someone a friend, that bond often lasted a lifetime. He was intelligent, caring and quick-witted. He left an impression on the people he met, and his friendships were a testament to the kind of person he was.
Darrell was truly one of a kind. He will be remembered for his humor, his passions, his loyalty, and the love he shared with his family and friends. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created and the lives he touched will continue to live on.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who loved him.
