Obituary

Darrel Lizotte, 80, of Stanwood Washington passed away Saturday January 30th, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

A Celebration of Life mass was held on Friday February 5th at St. Cecilia's church in Stanwood. Father Paul officiated at the mass. Burial followed the mass at the Fir-Conway cemetery. Those wishing to sign the digital guestbook may do so at www.gilbertsonfh.com.

Darrel was born April 14,1935 in Thief River Falls, MN to John and Violet Lizotte. He graduated from Red Lake Falls, MN high school in 1953. He married the love of his life, Darlene Wavra on September 3, 1955. Throughout the years, Darrel farmed and had many businesses such as bulldozing, general stores including a butcher shop, as well as working for various companies. Throughout the years, they lived near several different northern Minnesota towns such as Dorothy, Huot, Terrebonne, and Plummer. The family moved to Burlington, Washington in November of 1981, where Darrel worked for Bayliner until retiring in 1994. He loved hunting, fishing, gold panning, hiking, riding motorcycles in the mountains, and most of all spending time with his family. Darrel was a fun-loving and playful Grandpa and Great-Grandpa, loved and adored by all his family. He excelled at fixing anything and was a "jack of all trades". His garden was bountiful every year.

Darrel is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Darlene and their eight children and spouses: Steve and Deloris Lizotte of Bow, WA, Dean and Mary Lizotte of Madison, WI, Connie and Tom Seibel of Red Lake Falls, MN, Doug and Rosi Lizotte of Burlington, WA, Cammie and Joe Donarski of Stanwood, WA, Scott and Valerie Lizotte of Burlington, WA, Andrea and Brian Knoll of Oak Harbor, WA, Sondra and Jeff Loree of Olympia, WA, 25 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren as well as sisters Valerie Lachance and Cindy Gauthier of Sedro Woolley. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Carrie, his parents John and Violet, and his sister Viann Moran.
