Obituary

Cynthia Ann Poteete, the beloved wife of John Poteete, pressed forward all the way into Jesus' love on August 31, 2024.

Cynthia was affectionately known as Cindy or Songbird. She went to heaven to be with her savior and Lord Jesus Christ on August 31, 2024. She was a beautiful person inside and out, reflecting her Christian character as a faithful follower of her Lord savior, Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Johnnie R. Poteete; her sons: Aaron Poteete and wife, Anna Poteete; Jason Poteete and wife, Nancy Poteete; her daughter: Angel (Amy) Poteete and son, Logan Peterson; her sister: Jodie Garner and fiance Walter Billy Gill; 11 grandchildren and 20 plus great-grandchildren with more on the way. Cindy was a loving wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, worship leader and Christian woman of faith.

At a tender age of 5 yo, Cindy gave her heart to God and never wavered or departed though very lonely at times. At 8 yo she received a special infilling of the Holy Spirit. During her teenage years her best friends were the Holy Spirit, her guitar, and songs.

She was a big part of influencing her family to become Christians. She went on to be a warrior worshipper - leading worship for many years. She looked forward to weekly honey words (bible verses) and songs. She was musically gifted and wrote a number of songs.

She was blessed to marry the first man that she fell in love with, John Poteete. God prepared her to marry at age 18 to a man with an infant child, Aaron. John and Cindy were united as one from the beginning, as best friends, followers, and leaders of Jesus. They were inseparable in pursuit of God and life. Cindy loved praying with John. John prayed with her from his heart until her very last breath.

Cindy absolutely loved celebrations, flowers, decorating, dressing up, laughing, being with family and most of all reading the word of God and sharing in his devotion with her church family. She would fondly say, "Love God deeply, love each other genuinely." Matthew 22:36-40.  She will be sweetly remembered and dearly missed. She has received the ultimate decree of honor, "well done good and faithful servant; enter in my joy - the joy of the Lord." Matthew 25:23

In memory and honor of Cindy: "Be obedient unto the heavenly calling" Phil 3:3-14
