Connie May Hines Gisi passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, April 30, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Her loving husband had just tucked her in for the night, kissed her and told her he loved her. She was welcomed home by her parents, Andrew Ross Hines and Ruth Beard Hines, her brother, Dennis Ross, and her sister, Susan Kay.
Connie was born November 23, 1947 in Tuscon, Pima, Arizona. In her youth, she was taught the value of kindness, hard work, and family. Though educated and accomplished as a Special Education Teacher, Connie would say that her greatest and most fulling purpose was being a mother and grandmother.
She married the love of her life, Leo Anthony Gisi, on August 21, 1976 in Aberdeen, Brown, South Dakota. That marriage was later solemnized on June 22, 1985 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.
A kind and generous woman, Connie did not define family by blood. Instead, she spent her life loving and serving others growing her family every time she made a friend. She was a light to all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love to serve others, and in so doing, to serve the Lord.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister, and one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Breslaw. Connie is survived by her loving husband, Leo, son, Jonathan Breslaw, and daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Gisi Denning and Steven Denning; 13 grandchildren: Andrew (Melanie) Breslaw, Sarah Breslaw, Lauren (Hayden) Nichols, Brayden Breslaw, Brennan Breslaw, Bria Breslaw, Samantha Breslaw, Zachary Breslaw, Elisabeth Denning, Rebekah Denning, Emma Denning, Catherine Denning, and Kimberlea Denning; and 3 great-grandchildren: Frederick Breslaw, Hunter Breslaw, and Paisley Nichols. Others considered family by Connie include: daughter, Tammie Gibson; grandchildren, Anthony Lua, Brianna Gibson, and Adrionna Gibson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 5, 2017.
