Charles M. (Skip) Major
Skip was born to Charles W and Beulah Major on October 20, 1921; he passed away September 10, 2010 in Stanwood. He attended School and graduated from Stanwood High School in 1939. He joined the Navy in 1942 and served 3 years in Guadal Canal before being honorably discharged in 1946. He fished commercially in the waters of Puget Sound and Alaska for many years before being hired by Atlantic Richfield as Resident Manager of Kayak Point for 11 years. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Major; 3 daughters: Melody (Jerry) Snyder of Mount Vernon, Marilyn (Ron) Baker of Arlington, and Stacy (Randy) Tew of Stanwood; 1 son: Craig (Kathryn) Major of Camano Island; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother: Darl W. Major and 1 sister, Marjorie M Johnson. He will be greatly missed and long remembered by his family. At his request no services will be held. "Smooth Sailing Skipper"
