Charles R. "Chuck" Murr passed away on April 5, 2015 due to complications from diabetes.
Chuck was born October 3, 1932 to parents Charles Murr and Pearl (Rudisill) Murr in Woden, Iowa. As a child he moved with his family to Corwith, Iowa and later to Mason City, Iowa where he graduate from high school in 1950. Chuck was a member of the 1948 Legion baseball team that won the state championship. He played for Iowa State for one year, then signed a contract with the New York Yankees and played in their farm system before serving during the Korean War in the Air Force from 1952-1956. He married Mary Senn on December 29, 1951.
After graduating from Wartburg College in January 1959, Chuck worked at Lutheran Mutual Life Insurance Co. for 8 years. He then joined Honeywell, Inc. and was assigned to Minneapolis, San Diego and Seattle, working in Human Resource management positions. He retired in June 1989, and resided on Camano Island, Washington, Sun City West, Arizona and Stanwood, Washington. Chuck greatly enjoyed his retirement with Mary, his time with family and friends and playing golf.
Chuck and Mary have three children, Janet (Paul) of Seattle, David (Kim) of Camano Island and Scott (Lisa) of Snohomish, Washington. They also have 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
