Chuck was born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma
to Charles Allen, Sr. and Ethel Newell.
The family moved to Sedro Woolley, Washington
when Chuck was about 8 years old. He attended
schools in the area until he was drafted into the
policeman and served in Germany for two years.
After his discharge from the Army and his return to
Washington, he began a career with Seattle/Metro Transit,
in King County for 38 years. After a short "practice break" in
retired life, he began driving again for Community Transit
In Snohomish County until his full retirement in 1998.
During his long driving career he received a major award from
the National Safety Council for 3 million miles of safe driving.
Chuck was an avid golfer, winning many tournaments in the
Seattle/Tacoma area as well as Eastern Washington and
Canada. He was very proud of his Green Jacket!! He moved
to Camano Island in 1994 and resided at Camaloch where he
enjoyed over 20 years of golfing with the Men's Club.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, his son, Gregory of
Austin, Texas, his son, Douglas (Pam) of Stanwood, granddaughters,
Kelly (Christian) LeRoy of Edmonds, Tracy of Everett, special daughters, Gail (David) Pope, of Lake Stevens, and Jill Beckman of Everett, special granddaughter Skyler (Daniel) Frick of Everett, great-grandchildren Ava Sue & Andrew Neil LeRoy, and Ayden Christopher Frick. His brother, Russell Allen of Camano Island also survives as well as many nieces & nephews. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and his grandson Neil Allen.
Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the
Gilbertson Funeral Home with reception following at St. Cecilia Catholic Church
Hall in Stanwood.
There will be a private family burial service at a later date.
