Catherine Deborah
Heighton
, 66, of Camano Island, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, December 19th, 2022. Daughter of the late Joyce Pollock and Donald St. Pierre, Cathey was born on July 17th, 1956. She graduated from West Seattle High School in the class of 1974. She met and married the love of her life, husband of nearly 46 years, James Alexander

, while studying in Utah at Brigham Young University in 1977. Catherine was a strong believer in education and studied relentlessly to receive her master's degree at the age of 56 from the University of Washington while simultaneously raising and supporting her family. She was enrolled in a PhD program when she was diagnosed with cancer in 2019.
Catherine raised her beloved children while being a PTA president, an advocate for social services, working at Boeing, and countless other volunteer and church callings. Catherine worked at Boeing for over 20 years and remained working there, proudly supporting her programs, until this past week. She dedicated her life to her family and supporting others.
Cathey's love of her family and her Savior was without measure and is eternal. She was a constant support to her family; a 4-hour round trip drive to attend a school program or babysit her grandbabies was never a deterrent. Cathey's sense of humor, stubbornness, and compassion were traits we all admired and still cherish. A fierce protector of those she loved would be an understatement. She absolutely loved to spoil her grandchildren as well as her nieces and nephews. Catherine loved to have tea parties, dinners, and jam-making dates with her grandchildren. She was always planning memorable vacations and experiences for her family, never missing an opportunity to show them her love. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and would spend weeks and sometimes months creating something special to give to each of them.
Catherine was preceded in death by her eldest son, John Thomas
