Caroline Dettling, 3 days short of 90, passed away in her home Tuesday January 21, 2014 with family at her side.
She was born January 24, 1924 in Orting Washington to August and Caroline Schoenbachler.
Caroline grew up on a farm in the Kent Valley attending Kent schools and upon graduating worked at Peoples Bank in Kent for 13 years.
In 1956 Caroline married Ben Dettling and moved to Stanwood where they continued to farm Ben's family dairy and raise two children. Farming and family was their life.
Caroline and Ben were both born to Swiss emigrants and very proud of this fact. They made many trips to Switzerland over the years. Caroline loved to travel and visited many states and countries but always said Switzerland was the most beautiful. They often traveled with groups and had great fun and friends through their travels.
Caroline was an active member of St. Cecilia Parish in Stanwood and belonged to the Women's Guild for many years. She had many dear friends through the church and in our community. She will be truly missed by many.
Caroline is survived by a daughter Karen and her husband Kenneth Williams; two granddaughters, Courtney Lenz (Ryan) and Kelsey Bishop (Harrison) and one grandson Steven Williams; sister Bertha Pozzi; three nephews, Stuart and Steve Pozzi and Robert Schoenbachler.
She was preceded in death by her son Joey, husband Ben and brother Herman.
The family would like to make a special thanks to her caregivers who were with her for many years and allowed her to stay in her home through her years with Parkinson's.

Caroline's service with be held at St. Cecilia Church in Stanwood on Saturday January 25, 2014 at 11:30 am.
Concluding services will be held in the Anderson Cemetery, Stanwood
