Obituary

Beverly Jones Koetitz, 78, of Stanwood, WA, passed away on October 6, 2014. Beverly was the second of 3 children of George Kuntz (stepfather) and Edith Mae Jensen. She was born on August 24, 1936 In Ronan, MT.

Beverly grew up in Ronan with her 2 brothers. She enjoyed attending country schools, Bible classes during her grade school years, the Methodist Fellowship as a teen, and graduated from Ronan High School where she met the love of her life, Alvin Paul Koetitz, Jr.

After high school, Beverly was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She also began a 38 year career in hospital administration working in various business office positions. She married her high school sweetheart, Alvin, one week after he returned from military leave on December 8, 1954 in St Ignatius, MT.

They then embarked on a cross country move to Maryland where their first son, Jonathan, was born. Returning home to family in Ronan, MT, a daughter, Laurel, was born. Another move took the family to Oklahoma where their son, Randall, was born. They eventually settled in Stanwood where they established a homestead of over 45 years. Beverly and Alvin shared a deep, unwavering love for each other. On July 3, 1964, they were sealed for time and all eternity to each other and their children in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

Beverly was a devoted, caring, compassionate, and loving mother, grandmother and faithful member of her church. She was always protective of her family giving wise counsel, a listening ear, encouragement to choose the right, and letting them know that she loved them dearly. She willingly served in various church callings including Cub Scout Den Mother, Primary teacher, in the Relief Society organization, and in the Stanwood LDS ward library. She later served with her husband on a full-time mission at the Marysville Stake Family History Center.

She persevered in all her efforts and roles including raising 3 children, caring for her aging mother, attending to her ailing youngest son over a period of 5 years prior to his passing, and providing for her family while working full time. Her final 32 years of employment was at Everett General Hospital now known as Providence Medical Center.

Her love of flowers and plants were evident in her gardening skills. She loved nature and wildlife (particularly birds), reading, shopping, collectibles, cooking, fishing, camping, and participating in church social activities. She served on the Community Credit Union Board of Directors. Home and family were her strength and greatest blessings in life. She enjoyed sharing special memories with her family and extended family including 10 grandchildren and 14 great-children.

Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Alvin Paul Koetitz, Jr), her son (Randall Lee Koetitz), and brother (Bill Jones). She is survived by her children: Jonathan (Tami) Koetitz (Kadis) and Laurel (Mark) Madsen, Grandchildren: Jared (Ruthann) Koetitz (Kadis), Justin Koetitz, Tarissa (Dave) Gwilliam, Tasha (Nefi) Urena, Lacey (Michael) Allen, Kimball (David) Romney, Isaac (Maria) Madsen, Ryan Madsen, Tyler Madsen, and Kyle Madsen, Great-Grandchildren: Leo, Gavin, Christina, David, Rayna, Noah, Koi, Jordan, Skyler, Gabriel, Sawyer, Adelaide, Hyrum, and Isaiah, and brother (Wendell Kuntz).

Services will be held Friday, October 10th with a viewing from 1:00 to 1:30 pm and memorial services starting at 2:00 pm at the Stanwood Ward LDS chapel, 795 Ell Rd, Camano Island, WA. Arrangements under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood, WA. A graveside service will follow at the Anderson Cemetery in Stanwood, WA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Audubon Society or The Nature Conservatory.
