IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty
Diederichs
July 21, 1927 – January 17, 2021
Anna Elizabeth Diederichs, called "Betty" by most, was peacefully called home to be with Jesus on January 17, 2021, in Stanwood, Washington. Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not. Her 93 years of life were nothing short of well lived, blessed, and fulfilling. If our love for her alone was enough to keep her here, she'd be with us forever.
Born in Broken Bow, Nebraska on July 21, 1927 to Forrest Cole and Irma Whitney, Betty married her sweetheart, Robert "Bob" Leo Diederichs, on August 2nd, 1944 in Lafayette, Colorado. Upon his return from combat in World War II, Betty and Bob started their family and were blessed with three boys: Robert "Bobby" Leo Diederichs Jr. in 1947, Timothy Harrold Diederichs in 1950, and Daniel Paul Diederichs in 1953. Betty and Bob called Denver home for some 80 years, until they moved to Roseville, California in 2007 to be closer to their granddaughter, Tamara. During their time in California, they enjoyed the consistent and warm weather, and particularly enjoyed the lack of snow. Most of all, they enjoyed their extra time with Tamara, who ensured they were extremely well taken care of and that they lived their best life. Shortly after becoming a widow, Betty moved to Stanwood, Washington in 2017 to be closer to her son Dan and his family, where she spent the remainder of her years.
Betty spent most of her life doing what she loved the most - being a faithfully devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend to many, and eventual grandmother and great grandmother. She was a master baby whisperer who took an active role in caring for every grandchild, great grandchild, and any other baby she could get her hands on. In her "off time" she became an award-winning bowler, a marathon reader of romance novels, a collector of all things. She was hands down (pun intended) the best potholder maker in the world. She was the queen of casseroles and you could count on a sea of salads she whipped together for family gatherings. She loved to read, work puzzles, play the slot machines, grocery shop, cook, knit, & read. She was a through and through Broncos fan for all her life, and always loved watching their football games every chance she got (yes, even the ones that were tough to watch). She loved to laugh, and it wasn't hard to make her do. We will miss that innocent laugh, and her quick witty comebacks that usually followed. She was a fun, loving, loyal, strong, selfless woman who will be greatly missed by so many.
She was preceded in death by her parents Forrest and Irma, her sister Marguerite, and her husband of 72 years, Bob. She is survived by her sister June Rose of Denver, Colorado; Her son Robert (Sharon Allen) Diederichs Jr. of Grand Junction, Colorado; grandchildren Kevin (Denise) Diederichs, Tamara Diederichs, & Keith (Adrienne) Diederichs; great grandchildren Mitchell, Emmalee, Sam, & Grace; Her son Timothy (Paula) Diederichs of Westminster, Colorado; grandchildren Shanna Diederichs (Jason Chuipka), Nikki Diederichs, Christa (Darrel) Redford, & Kim (Attila) Martonosi; great grandchildren Maddie, Everett, Wyatt, Kayla, Daphne, & Sophie; Her son Daniel (Barbara) Diederichs of Stanwood, Washington; grandchildren Taryn (Mark) Wagner, Nathan Diederichs (Tricia Vasquez), & Lindsey Diederichs (Ryan Philpott); great grandchildren Taylee, Caleb, Emelyn, & Jackson.
Per Betty's final wishes, a memorial service to honor her and the amazing life she lived will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California, on February 22, 2021 at 2:30 pm, where she will once again be reunited and laid to rest with her loving husband, Bob.
