Audrey Gail Knutson

August 20, 1933 – November 26, 2017

Audrey Gail Knutson passed away November 26, 2017 after a battle with cancer, at her home surrounded by her family.

Audrey was born August 20, 1933 to Nels and Hazel Peterson in Moorhead, Minnesota. Her family moved to Silvana, Washington when Audrey was two years old. She was raised in Silvana and attended Silvana grade school, graduating from Arlington High in 1951.

Audrey met and married Marlen Knutson in 1954, and raised their family in the Stanwood and Camano Island area. She, along with Marlen, built a thriving fuel distribution business for 29 years. Upon retirement, the Knutsons moved to the Bow area. They enjoyed many years of traveling in their motorhome visiting family and friends. They were married 62 years before Marlen passed away in September 2016.

Audrey's greatest joy and success was building her home and family. The Knutson house has always been "grand central" for her family – you were fed, showered with treats, and left feeling loved. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.

She was an avid quilter and enjoyed her weekly quilting group. She also had a life time bond with her High School girlfriends who met regularly.

Audrey is survived by her six children: Marlen Jr. (Julie), Neil (Suzanne), Leanne, Lindsey (Terry), Darryl, and Tim (April); fifteen grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. Audrey also leaves behind two sister in laws, Bonnie (Charles) Cantoni of California and Donna (Clinton) Kallock of Stanwood, and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Marlen Knutson; her parents Nels and Hazel Peterson; In-laws Melford and Ella Knutson, and brother in law, Dennis and Mary Jean Knutson.

A memorial will take place Wednesday, December 6, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Stanwood at 11:00 am.

Arrangements are in the care of Gilbertson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church or Hospice Northwest.
