IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Audrey
Adams
May 2, 1934 – November 28, 2022
Audrey Marguerite (Schwab) Adams passed away on November 28, 2022, she was 88 years old.
Audrey was born May 2nd 1934 in a Big Red House which is still standing today in Stanwood Washington. Her parents were Charles and Marguerite Schwab.
Audrey attended Stanwood and Everett High school and was part of the band, she played the saxophone. She graduated in 1954?
Audrey moved to San Diego after high school with her cousin Rosalie Held.
She worked as a cook and waitress in a café in San Diego where fellas from the Navy frequently came in. One night Thomas (Tommy) Adams came in and told his navy buddies, "see that girl I am going to marry her". He asked Audrey out the first time he set eyes on her and she turned him down flat, saying she already had someone walking her home to her boarding house, the Chadwick Hotel. Tommy was very determined to get his future wife so he went to her café the next day right at opening and said to her "I am here first this time; may I walk you home". She agreed and he walked her home and the next day he asked her to marry him. They went to Tijuana, Mexico and got married after only knowing each other 3 days. They did not tell anyone so they got remarried later on March 12th, 1955 in a ceremony at her parents' home in Everett, WA which was their official wedding anniversary.
Audrey and Tommy were married for 47 years when he passed away one day before her birthday on May 1, 2001. They were both only 4 days apart in age.
Audrey had many jobs throughout her lifespan. She went to college to become a CPA but decided to have children instead. She worked in the Stanwood food processing plant and was a
waitress for years at Chuckwagon Inn...but the greatest job she had was being an AVON sales rep for over 55 years. She worked for this company up until her death, having 2 loyal long-time clients and friends, Carol and Jeanette. In 1980, she was the top salesperson in Avon and received the top honor of Avon's Northern Light division which included Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Utah & North California. She was always proud of being in the president's club for AVON. SHE ALSO WAS SO PROUD THAT HER CLIENTS WOULD OPEN UP TO HER AND SHE COULD SHARE GOD'S LOVE WITH THEM. SHE CALLED IT HER MISSION FIELD.
Audrey battled heart disease, an aortic aneurysm, and kidney failure but she would always say that I don't have diabetics.
AUDREY LOVED her whole family and all her friends. Audrey loved her grandkids very much and loved it when they dropped in or they called. She loved how Michael would always call when he got to work and when he was on his way home to let her know he was safe.
Audrey always put on a brave face and smiled at those around her, not showing the pain she was in daily. She was kindhearted and always had a smile when she had people visit or talk to her on the phone.
If someone asked Audrey how she was doing she would reply, 'oh you really don't want to know". If they said oh ok than she let it go but if they said tell me she would share her journey of all the hardships she had endured past and present; battling cancer three times and beating it, losing an infant son, battling heart disease, & kidney disease.....but she never gave up and she told everyone God is not finished with me yet he has his hands around my heart and when it is my time, God will take me. Until then I am here, and I plan to live life to the fullest.
