Arthur Strand

(Jan 17, 1926 – Jan 5, 2018)

Our dad Arthur Strand of Warm Beach passed away Friday January 5th 2018. He was born to Annie and Gerhart Strand in Glendive Montana on January 17, 1926.

Art moved to Warm Beach when he was ten years old, later went to East Stanwood High School until he joined the Navy on Dec 23, 1942 for the duration of WWII, where he served aboard CVE 59, the USS Mission Bay out of Quonset Point R.I. earning the rank of AOM3 Aviation Ordinanceman 3rd Class.

He then met and was later married to the love of his life Betty Ann Riley in Everett WA on Jan 10, 1948. They lived a full and happy life together until she passed away in 1995. His care and dedication to Betty was extraordinary.

For most of his working life he was a skilled laborer for Weyerhaeuser in Everett in their saw mills and later in their pulp mill. All the while he was truly a farmer at heart. In addition to his children, he was raising vegetables, berries and grapes and maintained a large orchard of fruit and nut trees and always raising pigeons, pigeons and more pigeons.

Art and Betty lived in Warm Beach for several years in the early 50's, and while there they had three children, Rose, Wayne and Janice, then they moved to Everett and had two more children, Paul and Glenn, then moved to Lake Stevens where Frank was born, bringing the family to 6 children. Art then moved the family back to Warm Beach for the rest of his life. The six children have now increased Art's family to include 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great- great –grandchildren. He will be missed by every one of them.

Art was preceded in passing by his wife Betty, both his parents, his sister Clara, and his brother Gilbert.

Friends and family are invited to a Funeral Service honoring his life, which is to be held at Gilbertson Funeral Home in Stanwood on Friday January 12, 2018 at 11:00. Internment is to follow at Valley View Cemetery near Silvana. Visitation will be held at Gilbertson Funeral Home on Wednesday January 10 ^th and Thursday January 11 ^th , 2018 from 930AM to 430PM.
