Anna Lee Lund Obituary
Anna Lee Lund passed away on Thanksgiving morning, November 23, 2017. It was a most appropriate day since she loved the holidays, cooking, and being with family.
"Annie" was born in Thornton, Washington on April 9, 1928, to Lee and Dora Hereford. She was the only girl, having 5 brothers. In 1941, her family moved to Fir Island, and then to Stanwood, where she later graduated from high school. As a senior she was a recipient of the prestigious Pugh Memorial Award.
She married Gordon Lund May, 1947, and they had 3 children, all of which they raised in Stanwood. She and Gordon were divorced after almost 25 years of marriage.
She was a lifetime member (recently longest living member) of Stanwood Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Twin City Wives Club, member of a bridge club that were together for over 50 years. She was a Blue Bird and Camp Fire Girls leader, and den mother for the Cub Scouts. She always volunteered at her kid's school functions, and never missed one of their many events or games. She was always there for her kids, helping them with whatever she could—always doing the extra.
She worked for the Stanwood Post Office for 26 years, and then after retirement, The Uffda Shoppe, and then volunteered at the Stanwood Food Bank.
Her hobbies through the years were golf, bridge, oil painting, and cake decorating, but most of all she loved to have dinner parties, which the food was wonderful and she had them down to every detail. She was complimented on those by so many. She loved the Mariners, and enjoyed many trips to Peoria for spring training.
She always was one of the first to bring a casserole or baked goods to anyone who was ill or who had lost a loved one.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Murray) Cassidy; son, Barry (Chris) Lund; daughter-in-law, Joan Lund; brother, Michael (Maxine) Hereford; Sister-in-law, Joyce Hereford and brother-in-law Raymond Lund; grandchildren, Heidi (Dan)Donnelly, Ryan(Kristin) Pirkle, Dylan(Ashley) Lund, Tyler Lund, Marcus Price, Linnea (Albert) Brodeur, Brody Lund, Madison Lund, Jeremy Henry, Johanna (Ivan) Aranda, and Shane Smither; great grandchildren, Hailey, Blake, MacKenzie, Samantha, Charlie, Ira, Evelyn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Garry Lund; her brothers, Robert, Donald, William, and David and her parents Lee and Dora.
We would like to thank Marge and Duane Turk for being such loyal, caring friends to Annie through the years. Also a thank you to the incredible loving and caring staff at Josephine Memory Care where she resided for the past 2 years.
A celebration of Annie's life will be conducted at the United Methodist Church in Stanwood, at 12:00 (noon) on Thursday, December 7, 2017, with luncheon following. A private family burial will be held prior, at the Mount Vernon Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., where she will be laid to rest alongside her parents and brother.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Annie's name at the Stanwood Camano Food Bank of the Garry Lund Scholarship Fund.
