Obituary

Alfred Paul Smith Jr., 89 of Mount Vernon passed away with his loving family and friends by his side on November 28, 2018. Al was born April 11, 1929 to Alfred P. Smith Sr. and Agda Ohlsson in Brussels, Belgium.

He was raised in Seattle, WA and attended Queen Ann High School. Al Joined the US Marine Corps and served in the Philippines at Subic Bay, WWII 1944.

Al worked at King TV from 1950 to 1969 as the Director Producer and traveled around the world filming outdoor shows. He taught television production at Western Washington University in Bellingham from 1972 to 1992.

Al married the love of his life Sandra Moen-Bachofner December 26, 1982. They spent their time on their boat the "Sea Lemon" fishing, crabbing, and exploring. They traveled to Yuma, AZ where they bought a home and became "Sno Birds".

He leaves behind his loving wife of almost 36 years, 3 sons Jerry and Ann, Glen and Heidi, Steve and Susan. 4 step daughters Melanie and Clint, Sheralee and Bob, Wendy and Rick, Billie and Mike. 24 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Al also leaves behind his sister Lilyan and Mike Standish, nieces and nephews.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gordon Smith, 2 grandsons Timothy and William Sains, and granddaughter Brooke Knowles.

A memorial service will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church-27201 – 99th Ave NW, Stanwood, WA at 1PM on Saturday, January 26, 2019 in Stanwood, WA with reception following. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
